Rawr, so much work to do and so little time...
Can't really make a big post about these few weeks, but let's just say that there might not be a lengthy post until Thanksgiving. Who knows, I might prove myself wrong.

Fail Week
Not sure what happened this week. There were numerous failures of logic that occurred.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty normal. Then this happened:
It's great that Schatz has a specialty theme night every Wednesday, but a breakfast themed night seemed unnecessary and unimaginative. Granted, I could have gone to another dining place and it was quite interesting eating second breakfast at 6:00 PM, but it was still quite strange. (Fail on my part)
I recently discovered Omegle, an online stranger chatroom. What happens is that you're automatically paired up with a stranger to start up a chat. Sometimes the chats become quite interesting. Other times, well...
Too many people are desperate.
This Saturday, I went with Jeri to the Waterfront mall to get some shopping done. The problem is, we took an 'almost wrong' bus and ended up going twice the distance we were supposed to. We had to stand in the chilly wind in the middle of nowhere waiting for the bus to take us back.
Next week is midterms. T_T

Oh My the Trees Changed Colors
What is it now, going into week seven? That means that midterms are only a week away! Midterms (or midyears) have always been an unsatisfactory experience, leaving a bad taste in the mouth long after the final Euro FRQ. That's why you have to eat goodies! Lookie, the strawberries are happy for you to eat them.
In Hawaii, there exists only one season: summer. Because I've gone to China during a few winter vacations, the only season I have not genuinely experienced is autumn. As of now, Pittsburgh has proven that autumn means sinusoidal weather patterns given the cycles of hot and cold. The leaves on the trees change color! Pwetty...

When You Push the Up Button, the Elevator Doesn't Come: Now You Know Why
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Glad to know that I still look like a local boy.
Being a good comp sci student, I pay attention in recitation. And lo and behold, my TA demonstrates the one and only animal that can speak its thoughts on the terminal.
Harry's being a douche. Here's a video of him holding the elevators up at the fifth floor.
Nothing overly interesting these days. Just the same old struggle through schoolwork and time management. Well, I have met several new people, and they'll probably make their debut on this blog in a few weeks.

Death at CMU
Please read.
I do not know Geoffrey and am not sure if I have seen him. Apparently he was in my 3D Calculus class. But since his is a physics major, one day I might have ended up working with him. But now that's never going to happen. Life isn't fair that way.

Routine
After a few weeks of an experience, we all fall into a routine. Although this may be good, it usually leads to complacency in many cases. Whatever.
8:30: Wake up, go eat breakfast.
9:30 - 1:30: Time for classes on most days.
1:30-11:30: Free time: activities, homework, chilling, etc.
11:30-2:30: Focus on homework (if it still exists).
I know, it's sad, but it's all I've got. I eat lunch and dinner somewhere in there to, just so you know.
I don't understand why they even have taro flavor. No one here knows what it is unless they're from Hawaii. And even then, I'm the only one who likes it.
This brings back bad memories. I'm sure Cameron knows how to run a FloEFD test by now.
Tulga: I'll come tomorrow.
Tomorrow: No Tulga.
doc!: "You guys better hope the other teams have Tulgas."
There was shaved ice at a carnival themed night at Schatz. Meh. It was too chunky. Too bad they don't have a Tsukiji here.
By request, we have a video of Harry 'speakng British'. Enjoy.

Strawberries! :3
There's an iPod app for the popular 'Nyan Cat'. I feel like abused it. Small kine.
There was a PSO concert. They are so amazingly amazing. The brass are unnecessarily loud. Especially that bass trombonist.

Some Strange Thing Has Gone Around
There was a Chinese theme at the diner. There was a hearty lack of traditional Chinese meat. The veggies were pretty authentic, though. There was even rice! And chopsticks! Fuufuufuu...

So I come back to the dorm one day, and I find some strange spots by the elevator and on my bed. I hope the two cases aren't related much, but I am quite disturbed.
I made a new friend this week! Her name is Melanie, and we met because we were both dozing off in history lecture. :3

'Hawaiian' Foods at Schatz
There was a luau at Schatz diner today organized by some clubs. To quote Lynn: "Nice try." It was disappointing to find no taro flavored ice cream at the ice cream bar. They gave all of us these cheap plastic leis at the door. If I hadn't lived in Hawaii since I was four, I would have been impressed.
On another note, CMU just got a massive donation of 256 million dollars. According to someone in the Physics Lounge, that's the 14th largest donation to a private institution ever. The president was so excited he had fireworks.
Despite my combination of classes being somewhat difficult, I really enjoy the academic experience here at CMU. Fundamentals of Programming is making me think like I've never thought before. And I'm still getting nowhere.

On Appreciation
I feel obligated to do a serious post without my cynical humor every once in awhile. Maybe this could even improve my English. Don't get bored now. Well, to write something like this, one must overflow with arrogance and conceit, both of which I have an overabundance of.
Although my Calculus 3 class contains freshman who have obtained sufficient credit during their high school years to opt out of Calculus 1 and 2, there are many juniors in the class. These upperclassmen are all hard workers and great people, but why are they in a class full of freshmen? The answer lies in the opportunities that they were given. Not all schools in the US offer as many AP courses for college credit as Iolani does. Plus, there are many international students who don't even have an opportunity to place out of courses with information they have already mastered.
There is a boy on my floor who got rejected by all the schools the first year he applied to college. But you know what, he didn't give up. He got some jobs, gained some experience, and applied again. Now he's at one of the top institutions for higher education in the nation.
Moral: don't complain and be appreciative.
Someone (mother) wanted a picture of Harry up close.

First Day of Classes
Classes here at Carnegie Mellon are really chill. Compared to Iolani, I have 47 hours of coursework a week instead of 80. There are only three to four classes everyday, so it's like continuous extended schedule. My calculus class has its homework due every two weeks while physics and history is due every other day. I'm in a Chinese history course!
YAY!
With Spencer Luther.

I went to Skibo Cafe today for lunch. I didn't want to get lemonade.
I can understand if 'Lemonade' wasn't written on the station, but this just makes me suspicious that something was discretely put into the mixture.
Not my shirt. It was in the lobby. I didn't really want to wear it. Or touch that hole.
It's more interesting when people comment on the blog. COMMENT! Or I'll confiscate all your bovine products.

Orientation Week
Unnecessarily long post. Free meals the entire week. :3 My engrish is still subpar.
Monday:
Wow. We had two hours of icebreakers today. Two whole hours. Some activities:
-'I Have' (as opposed to 'I Never') with 100 people
-Web of Connections
-Sausage
-Human Scavenger Hunt
-Zoo (I was a cow!)
-Name+Fact Game
-Ultimate Ninja
-Human Knot (two interlacing rings?)
-Barrel Tag
-Possi
Got some ideas for Band Camp. Lots of ice cream:
Did some crazy stuff at night. I touched the most number of hands in my life.
Tuesday:
The Orientation Counselors were playing Hall of the Mountain King played by a guitar so loudly on the fifth floor that I could hear it in the first floor lobby. The lunch's been getting worse each day. I must be getting used to it. Had an interesting discussion with my floor about The Last Lecture.
Kind of a boring day. Went to explore the library before dinner on my own instead of taking the tour. Got a bit lost, but the place is amazing. I could live there.
Found this on the fridge. Reminds me of Ryan Mori.
Experienced an earthquake in my dorm at 1:53 PM. Originated in Virginia. Ehhhhh.....
Wednesday:
Sex skit this morning. What's that? Well, Condomman was there and he threw out condoms into the crowd, among other things. Learned some new sex jokes.
I first met the prospective physics majors. Most of them are pretty cool, and the dean is doc!-like. A mixture of cynicism and humor will keep any undergraduate smiling like an idiot with no way to respond.
At night, I went to the Carnegie Science Museum. There was an iMax 3D ish humongous dome screen that covered 75% of the ceiling. I must say that the Hubble video I saw was the closest I've been to 'sublime' in awhile.
Here's a view of Pittsburgh from the top of the science center. Pretty <3
Thursday
There was a two and a half hour discussion about the importance of academic integrity this morning. I suppose that means they're really serious about it. The thing is, at the meeting, I could feel the pride that the faculty had for the school, which is starting to lead to me having pride for my college.
Convocation was tonight. The speeches were all very inspiring for me, and my pride for the school continued to build after listening to a bit of the
history. Casino night was a bit strange. The five blackjack tables and the one hold em table filled up in five minutes, and people wouldn't leave for half an hour. So I just went back to the dorm and discovered some Serbian Film at a floor meeting. Click link and read plot at your own risk.
Bunnies smokin' fags. There are also real bunnies and squirrels on the path from the dorm to campus center, but I'm too lazy to take my iPod out and snap a photo. Usually it's because I'm listening to Shostakovitch or something.
Friday
House wars today. It's like senior camp, but only for two hours. Issac dyed his hair pink. And his beard. And his eyebrows.
The two hour field day was pretty nuts. Johnny Bae (our RA) got us all lost somehow in the beginning. The Residence on Fifth came in fifth (second last to those Donner fools) making 'Fifth on Fifth! Fifth on Fifth! Fifth on Fifth!'
Some shots. Lights were pretty strong, it seems. PRA played at least 3 times.
I guess I'm writing about Saturday and Sunday in a new post.
O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-O-OAKLAND!!! O-O-ooo... I'ts always awkward to be that one person that hangs over.

Late to Orientation
My parents didn't want to pay for the flight that got to Penn in the morning because the afternoon one was cheaper. So I missed getting my dorm keys and my id and my meal plan stuff. Also, on the first flight from Honolulu to Phoenix, some Indian baby was causing a ruckus for the entire flight. I did finish my summer reading, though.

Cleared!
I finally cleaned my floor today. I did NOT just shove the pile into my closet, but I'm not going to disclose a picture of my closet just to prove it.
Some embarrassing finds:

-my high school diploma >.<
-vicky's and richard's senior portraits
-three journals full of stuff from when I was really stupid
-tons of mail from CMU
-$25 VISA gift card
I only have three more days to enjoy this.
Ciaossu!
Looks like I'm leaving for college soon. Because Michael is going to inherit my room, I have to make it all hunky-dory for a five year old. I hope my parents follow through with the house after I clean my room. Rather, the house should be torn down and rebuilt because it's unnecessarily old.
Here's my room now. Unbelievable.
